Grand Junction Steps Up For Marillac’s Valentine Fundraiser
Look at all of those cupcakes. Marillac Health's 9th annual "Gifts From the Heart" fundraiser looks to be a huge hit. Way to go, Grand Junction.
I stopped by Baker's Boutique off of 24 Road yesterday to pick up my box of four cupcakes. These aren't just any ol' cupcakes. These are works of art. Each box sold generates big bucks for Marillac Health.
This year's theme was "Flower Power and the Power of Love." Each box contains four cupcakes. All proceeds benefit Marillac Health and their continued effort to provide health care services to all Mesa County residents regardless of income status.
The fundraiser ran through today, Valentine's Day. Baker's Boutique had several displays just like this. That equals a whole bunch of delicious cupcakes. At $15 a box, that's a lot of money for Marillac. Boxes were going quick, just during the two minutes I spent at the bakery. Imagine how many boxes they moved during the two weeks of the campaign.
As you may recall, Baker's Boutique was voted by you to be the best place in Grand Junction to enjoy "National Ice Cream for Breakfast Day." They do offer awesome ice cream, but these cupcakes are hard to beat. Add to that the fact proceeds went to a local organization, and that makes them even better.
Well, since it's already Valentine's Day, I'm assuming the promotion is coming to an end. Let's make sure this continues as a Western Colorado Valentine's tradition.
I hope you had a chance to participate. If not, there's always next year. I encourage you to participate in this fundraiser when Valentine's rolls around next year.
