Western Colorado stepped up to the plate in a big way last Saturday for the final stop in this year's food drive. Thanks to you, the Community Food Bank will be putting food on tables around the valley.

Last Saturday, December 14, marked the third and final stop for the 2019 Community Food Challenge. The crew made their way to Safeway on Broadway, spending four hours working alongside volunteers to collect food and cash donations. This event, sponsored by Carville's Automart, has been a Grand Valley fixture for years. Your food donations go directly to the Community Food Bank in Grand Junction, offering emergency food for families in crisis.

The breakdown from last Saturday's donation drive is as follows:

  • 1138 lbs of food donations (include canned food + hams and turkeys)
  • $208.48 cash
  • Carville's match of $208.48

Outstanding! Think about that for a minute, over a thousand pounds worth of non-perishable food for Western Colorado families. When it comes to the cash donations, the Community Food Bank can buy in bulk, so each dollar goes a long way. Add the matching donation from Carville, and you have a nice chunk of change.

Please keep in mind, this was only one stop for the 2019 campaign. Previous events were equally successful.

Thank you once again for making the 2019 Community Challenge Food Drive such a huge hit. It's important work, and the volunteers with the Community Food Bank and the Grand Junction Girl Scouts made all the difference. Here's looking forward to a wonderful and prosperous 2020.
