It's the biggest and most popular parade in Grand Junction and it's filling up fast.

It sure is hard to believe the holiday season is here and we are just a month away from the Grand Junction Parade of Lights. To be exact the date is December 7.

Applications for parade entries are now being received by Downtown Grand Junction and at this point, entries are about at 50% of capacity. That means if you, your business, or organization wants to be in this year's parade, you better get your application in as soon as possible.

There is a limit to the number of entries that will be accepted for the parade in an effort to shorten the length of the parade so people won't have to be sitting out in the December cold so long. It's a great parade, but the fact is, a large percentage of people -especially those with small children end up leaving before the parade is over. Consequently, a number of nicely decorated floats don't get seen by a lot of of people and all that had work essentially goes to waste.

Another change for this year's Grand Junction Parade of Lights is having Santa Claus lead the parade rather than have him at the very end. This is a great change to the parade, and one that moms and dads with kids will love, especially if they have to leave early due to the cold.

If you would like to get entered into the parade, applications are available on the downtown Grand Junction website. The theme this year is "A Comic Book Christmas."
