A Grand Junction man was ran over Saturday morning by Jeep after crashing his bike on ton Colorado National Monument.

The victim's name has not been released, but reports say the 37-year-old Grand Junction man crashed his bicycle prior to being ran over.

Park officials believe the man lost control while trying to negotiate a switchback before sliding approximately 20 feet along the road before he was run over by an oncoming Jeep.

He was airlifted to St. Mary's Hospital after emergency crews decompressed his chest.
