Homeward Bound of the Grand Valley is in desperate need of a number of items including foods, medicine, and hygiene products. Most disturbing, though, the shelter is out of coffee. Please assist your local shelter and consider donating some of these needed items.

Once, about a year ago, we ran out of coffee here at the radio station, and that was some scary crap. People I've been friends with for years immediately transformed into raging creeps. A radio station can't function without coffee. Given that fact, it seems reasonable a shelter cannot operate without it, either.

Currently, Homeward Bound of the Grand Valley seeks a handful of items. Here's the list of things they requested via social media:

  • Coffee
  • Meat
  • Sugar
  • Canned Fruit
  • Drink Mixes
  • Cereals
  • Spices
  • Oatmeal
  • Fresh Produce
  • Toilet Paper
  • Paper Towels
  • Razors
  • Over-the-Counter Pain Medication
  • Cold / Allergy Medicine
  • Ear Plugs (I wish we'd had some of those when we ran out of coffee at the station)
  • Travel Size Personal Hygiene Products

No doubt you'll agree that every item on this list is something one could pick up during a typical run to the grocery store.

Homeward Bound of the Grand Valley does amazing work here in Western Colorado. You'll find them at 2853 North Avenue in Grand Junction.

The best times to drop off donations are Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 4 pm. Donations can be dropped off right at the door. Someone on site will be happy to assist you.
