Could This Be the End of a Grand Junction Holiday Tradition?

For almost 40 years, this Halloween activity has been a "must do" for Grand Junction and Mesa County residents, this year could be different.

Studt's Pumpkin Patch and Corn Maze is being forced to cancel one of their most popular attractions -- the Haunted Corn Maze.

The notice came from the Mesa County planning department. It states that the Studt's Farm now needs a conditional use permit. While Jennifer Studt says that they are taking the steps necessary to obtain this permit. But, even if they do, the permit requires the farm to close by 11 p.m. That means NO haunted corn maze. In past years, the farm has remained open until 1 a.m.

The Mesa County commissioners will hold a public hearing on this matter. It will be a chance for you to give your opinion on the Corn Maze and whether the farm should be able to remain open until 1 a.m. This will take place Tuesday, August 9 at 9 a.m. at the old Mesa County courthouse.
