Grand Junction Businessman's Amazing Donation to Local Musicians

Thanks to a retired Grand Junction, Colorado business owner, a large number of aspiring guitarists have the tools needed to pursue their dreams.

The Western Colorado Guitar Society, under the direction of Javier De Los Santos, was the recipient of a generous donation. Be on the lookout for up-and-coming artists to do amazing things in our community with this generous gift.

The Gift of Music In Grand Junction Colorado

Western Colorado guitarist Javier De Los Santos, an instructor at Colorado Mesa University, director of music at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, and director of the Western Colorado Guitar Society, sent this message on March 21, 2023:

...We would like to thank greatly John Crouch (former owner of Mesa Music store who retired a couple of years ago) for his generous and kind donation of 38 guitars!!!

You read that correctly. The statement says this retired businessman, John Crouch, donated a total of 38 guitars to musicians in the region.

How The Guitars Will Be Distributed

According to Javier, the guitars will be allocated as follows:

20 guitars to the Colorado Mesa University music department
18 guitars to the Western Colorado Guitar Society

A Bright Future For These Donated Instruments

The Western Colorado Guitar Ensemble is open to all ages. They do ask that participants have at least six months of experience playing guitar.

The next meeting is coming up at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 28, 2022. The ensemble meets at the Music Classroom MPAC 128 at the Moss Performing Arts Center at Colorado Mesa University. Bring your guitar and music. If you can't participate in person, you can join them via ZOOM.

Guitars In Action

The first performance featuring these donated guitars is coming up Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at 7 p.m. The Western Colorado Guitar Society will present a free concert at the Art Center of Western Colorado.
