With these vouchers, participating veterinarians will perform the procedure at a cost of $25 to the pet owner.

Who's Behind This Offer?

According to the Mesa County News Facebook page, "The Animal Assistance Foundation (AAF) has provided extremely generous funding for sterilization procedures, and participating local veterinarians have agreed to offer Mesa County residents the procedures at a substantially reduced rate."

Why You Should Have Your Pet Spayed Or Neutered

According to Mesa County News, sterilization procedures can help pets live longer, healthier lives. By avoiding overpopulation, animals have access to what is referred to as the "Five Freedoms."

The Five Freedoms are globally recognized as the gold standard in animal welfare, encompassing both the mental and physical well-being of animals. According to the Association of Shelter Veterinarians, the "Five Freedoms" are:

  • Freedom from Hunger and Thirst
By ready access to fresh water and diet to maintain health and vigor.
  • Freedom from Discomfort
By providing an appropriate environment including shelter and a comfortable resting area.
  • Freedom from Pain, Injury or Disease
By prevention or rapid diagnosis and treatment.
  • Freedom to Express Normal Behavior
By providing sufficient space, proper facilities and company of the animal’s own kind.
  • Freedom from Fear and Distress
By ensuring conditions and treatment which avoid mental suffering.

What You'll Need To Do To Take Advantage Of This Offer

If you choose to participate, you'll need to provide proof of current rabies vaccination at the time of the procedure. If your animal doesn't have a current rabies vaccination, you'll be required to pay for that service. In other words, the cost of the rabies vaccination will not be covered by the $25 co-pay.
