Grand Junction Clinic Offers Free Flu Shots Amidst Flu Epidemic
The flu is raging havoc across the country, but one Grand Junction clinic is trying to beat it before you get it, offering free flu shots.
MerillacHealth offers free flu vaccinations to anyone four years of age and older. You can get your flu shot at either of these two locations:
- 2333 North 6th Street
- Mesa County Public Health building at 510 291/2 Road on the first floor
You do not need insurance. They will not ask to see your I.D., either. You can literally walk in without an appointment.
You can get your shot between the hours of 7 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. at either of the locations listed above.
How is it you're suddenly able to get a flu shot for free? Mesa County is getting hit hard right now due to influenza. More than three times the normal number of people have been admitted to hospitals during the fall and winter 2017-2018 season. This isn't just Grand Junction, by the way. This is going on across the state of Colorado.
According to MerillacHealth, the best defense against influenza is the combination of the flu shot and thorough hand washing. When it comes to the hand washing part, you're on our own. Visit the nearest restroom equipped with a hand soap dispenser. Where the flu shot is concerned, that's where MerillacHealth comes in.
How long will the free flu shots be available? Put simply, until they run out. Flu season is nowhere near over. Typically, flu season runs clear into May. Don’t delay; it’s not too late to get your flu shot!
