Grand Junction Colorado Says We’re Feeling This ‘Christmassy’ Right Now
Yesterday I asked to you describe in three words just how "Christmassy" you are feeling. Here's what you had to say.
Here we are, just three days away from Christmas, and it seems Grand Junction, Colorado, isn't exactly feeling the Yuletide spirit.

It Turns Out 'Christmassy' May Actually be a Word
When I asked the question "How Christmassy do you feel?" I honestly thought every English teacher in town would call the station wanting to eat my eyebrows. As it turns out, "Christmassy" may be a legitimate word.
According to the Google dictionary, which I fully admit is not necessarily the gospel when it comes to proper English, the word is defined as:
Christmassy
adjective INFORMAL
characteristic of or suitable for Christmas.
"We put the tree up really early because I think it's nice to have the house looking Christmassy"
On a Personal Note
There was a certain motivation behind my question. To be brutally honest, here it is, December 22, 2021, and I'm not exactly in the Christmas spirit. Frankly, it hasn't even dawned on me it's December, let alone a few days before Christmas. Why? I'm not sure, but it seems as if most of Grand Junction is in the same boat.
A few personal theories as to why I may be feeling this way:
- Most years, I would be performing a number of Holiday inspired concerts. COVID is still doing its thing, so concerts have been few and far between.
- No snow to speak of in Grand Junction (granted, many communities around the world go without snow, but around here it's kind of expected)
- As shorthanded as most employers are, many people are running themselves into the ground trying to keep up, let alone get in the holiday spirit.
This is How Grand Junction, Colorado is Feeling as We Approach Christmas
There were a number of excellent replies. Unfortunately, most expressed negative or at least lethargic feelings. Those responses get a "Grinch" for an image. There were, of course, some who responded with positive statements. Those get a happy little snowman. One somewhat nebulous reply came in, one I didn't quite know how to interpret. That remark gets a puppy.
