By now you've heard about the mishap with the Christmas Tree lot operated by a Grand Junction Boy Scout troop. A Western Colorado business has stepped up, and in the true spirit of Christmas, saved the day.

As we shared yesterday, Boy Scouts Troop 303 operates a Christmas tree lot in front of the former Sutherland's building near Mesa Mall. Their credit card machine ran into some technical issues on Friday, November 29. According to information sent to us from Troop 303, anyone who visited the lot near Mesa Mall between the hours of 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. did not actually get charged for their tree!

Several boy scouts and parents worked hard to sell trees as a major fundraiser on Friday, only to find out they sold about $1500 worth of trees but none of the charges went through. If you purchased a tree from that lot during those hours, they are requesting your return to the lot and run your card again.
In the meantime... a local business saw our post, and in an amazing act of generosity, offered to settle the bill.

America's Mattress at 2531 Rimrock Avenue in Grand Junction, stepped up to the plate in a big way. What a generous offer.
Of course, it goes without saying, those who purchased trees should make every effort to head back to the lot and settle the bill. Glitches such as this happen. They're a fact of life. In the event a few customers slip through the cracks, America's Mattress is spreading the Christmas cheer with this gesture.
This is one of the coolest things I've heard in a long time. The next time I buy a mattress or bedding, I'm going to visit this store. Knowing me, that probably won't be for another decade or two. In the meantime, this is the essence of the holiday spirit.
