Western Colorado cyclists will be happy to know the Glenwood Canyon bike path is now fully open.

The stretch of the bike path from Shoshone to Hanging Lake has been closed for several weeks due to high water on the Colorado River.

According to the Colorado Department of Transportation, crews have finally been able to perform maintenance and sweeping operations on the closed stretch as the water has receded.

Aside from getting the path completely open, there was more good news for cyclists in Glenwood Canyon. A CDOT spokesman said there was no  structural damage to areas that had been damaged in the past.

Cyclists wanting to enjoy the scenic bike path are reminded to obey all warning and closure signs. No further closures of the path are expected this summer, but cyclists can always check the status of the bike path through Glenwood Canyon at cotrip.org.
