Friends of the Mesa County Libraries seek book donations for October sale, to be held October 14th through the 17th at the First Congregational Church at the corner of 5th and Kennedy Avenue.
The Friends of the Mesa County Libraries are accepting donations of good-quality, gently read books for their upcoming Fall Book Sale. All types of books, as well as CDs, DVDs, and VHS tapes, are appreciated.
Donations may be placed in the Friends Book Depository located at the First Congregational Church, 1425 N. Fifth St. across from Grand Junction High School. Donations of good-quality books are essential to the success of the Annual Fall Book Sale, so your help is greatly appreciated. Donations can be dropped off 24 hours a day.
The Annual Fall Book Sale takes place Oct. 14-17, 2015, at the First Congregational Church. The sale schedule is:
● A special Early-Bird Sale will take place from 3-7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14: Admission to the Early-Bird Sale is $10 at the door for non-members of Friends (no charge for Friends members), and early birds get the first choice of the sale items.
● Public Sale: 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Thursday and Friday, Oct. 15 and 16. Most items will be priced no more than $2.
● Clearance Sale: 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17. Remaining books will be sold for $3 per bag or $7 per box.
The Friends of the Mesa County Libraries is a nonprofit organization that has provided support for programs at Mesa County Libraries for nearly 50 years. Programs funded by the Friends include the Summer Reading Program; One Book, One Mesa County; Poetry Night; and Literacy. The Friends have provided funds for various projects at the Fruita and Palisade branch libraries and contributed $100,000 to the recent Central Library Expansion and Improvement Project. In addition to twice-yearly book sales, Friends operates the Novel Idea Bookstore in the Central Library.
