The Colorado National Monument is celebrating Martin Luther King Jr Day and waiving park fees for the day.

Monday, January 18 is free admission to 130 National Park's around the country.

There are a variety of hikes to choose from in the Colorado National Monument.  The hikes can vary from short, simple hikes to the longer loops and steeper trails.

If you are coming from Monument Road off Broadway and go through the ranger's station entrance, the first parking lot to the left has four popular hikes that are all fairly short and easy.

Devil's Kitchen trailhead includes No Thoroughfare Canyon, Devil's Kitchen, Echo Canyon, and Old Gordon Trail. No Thoroughfare and Echo Canyon both lead to bodies of water, which create beautiful icicles during the winter months.

If hiking in the winter doesn't sound appealing, you can also drive up and look at the beautiful views. Snow on the Monument isn't a common occurrence, but it is a beautiful one.
