Do yourself a favor and make plans to attend one, or both, of the upcoming "Coffee With A Cop" sessions at Grand Junction area coffee shops. These are extremely informative, fun, and productive. Here are five rock-solid reasons why you should make plans to participate.

Police Week 2016 is coming up May 10 through 19, 2016. There are plenty of events and festivities you might enjoy. Two you are sure to enjoy are the "Coffee With A Cop" sessions on May 17 and May 19.

Basically, law enforcement officers come out to these coffee shops, and for two hours, they are available to answer questions and address concerns. For that matter, it's a chance to say "hi" and to get to know your local law enforcement.

Here are five reasons why you should definitely attend:

  • No speeches or agendas, just questions and your chance to express concerns
  • The coffee really is good
  • Chance to ask questions in an informal setting
  • It’s an opportunity to discuss matters that don’t necessitate a call or visit to the Sheriff’s Office
  • It’s a great opportunity to connect with local law enforcement

These sessions are absolutely awesome. Personally, I attend every chance I get. You don't have to get up and speak in front of anyone. For that matter, you don't have to buy anyone coffee. These are simply social events where you can meet one on one with law enforcement.

Make plans to attend "Coffee With A Cop." If you can't make one session, make the other. If I were you, I'd attend both. While you're there, please take a moment to thank the officers for their incredible work.
