Five Reasons Why You Should Join a Grand Junction Fraternal Organization Immediately
Do you belong to one of Grand Junction's various lodges? If you don't, you might want to give it some thought. Western Slope fraternal organizations offer an exciting, fun environment while making huge contributions to the community.
For the last 25 years, I've performed with bands at local lodges like the Elks, the Eagles, the VFW, and this last weekend, the Moose. They've always been fun. Here lately, though, I've looked at them in a different light.
This last Friday night (February 2) I had a chance to play at the Grand Junction Moose Lodge on 25 1/2 Road. The place was packed! The crowd was awesome. No, they were better than awesome. Quite frankly, the night was far more enjoyable than most of the old dance hall gigs I used to play back in the 1990's. Those were rooms on the A and B circuit, some of the best room in North America. Yeah, that was fun, but this was better.
In addition to putting on dances, these organizations host exciting events and fundraisers. At any given time, The Moose Lodge raises funds to support Mooseheart. What is that? According to their webpage -
Mooseheart is a residential childcare facility, located on a 1,000-acre campus 38 miles west of Chicago. The Child City is a home for children and teens in need, from infancy through high school.
Now that's cool. It's fun to play for a crowd, dancing to awesome music, while knowing the proceeds are going to support something so wonderful. Here are my top five reasons why you should join a fraternal organization the next chance you get.
- Some of the lodges in Grand Junction boast the best dance floors in the valley
- Lodges periodically host fun events such as dances and concerts. Many of these are far better than the bar scene
- Many of these organizations provide support to the community
- It's your chance to make new friends
- It's nice to have a place to go... a place you can call your own. Members of these lodges take great pride in their fraternity.
Those are just a few things I've noticed. Shop around. Western Colorado is home to several such organizations. Certainly, there is one out there that's a perfect fit for you.
