It is called the Equal Pay for Equal work act. It has passed the Senate and now moves on to the Governor. The bill would make it illegal to retaliate against an employee seeking equal pay as stated by the bill against an employer.

This bill would make it illegal to discriminate based on gender. There have been many times that women do not get paid as much as a man in the same position. I have a friend who was a manager and she was paid about 50 percent less than her male counterpart in the same position.

It would compensate employees and punish employers when there is gender pay discrimination.

The Bill, however, does provide some exceptions:

The bill would also require an employer to announce to all employees employment advancement opportunities and the salary range for that particular job.
