This past weekend I was fortunate enough to spend some time with family here in Grand Junction as my brother and nephew visited for a few days. It was so much fun showing them the beauty of Western Colorado even if we have the largest active wildfire in the United States with the Pine Gulch Fire burning just north of us.

When they told me they were going to come to visit I was excited to see family after the crazy start to the year we have all had but I never expected to talk to them about the falling ash that we had over the weekend. But that's just how life goes sometimes and it was a fantastic time while they were visiting.

One of the things we always like to do when family comes to visit is show off the Colorado National Monument. The views are stunning and it's right in our back yard so we always enjoy driving through. As we drove through the Monument with the wildfire smoke it was obviously different but still worth showing my family the beauty of where we live.
