While this isn't the first time that Downtown Grand Junction and Mesa County Libraries have teamed up for a StoryWalk, this is a perfect opportunity for you to try it out for yourself. And the details are really simple, as we all know the weather is getting nicer outside so now through March 7th you're encouraged to visit different businesses on Main Street and look for numbered pages in business windows and read a book outside.

The goal of this whole event is to encourage reading for all ages in an outdoor setting. Individual pages of a story are displayed in a business and families can walk to each stop and read the story together. You can find the map of events by visiting the events page on the Mesa County Library website but we found the link for you to make it easier, just click here.

After finding the Downtown Grand Junction post on Instagram about the event I also found their list of participating businesses which include:

  • Candle Kitchen
  • The Hog and The Hen
  • Candytime Shoppe
  • Colorado Baby
  • Fat Cat Pottery
  • e-Bricks
  • Steve G Reality
  • Board Fox Games
  • Outwest Books
  • The Raw Canvas
  • Summit Canyon
  • Gelato Junction
  • Willow Creek Herbs and Teas
  • Pollux Clothing
  • Kiln Coffee Bar
  • River City Real Estate

During the pandemic I have learned to love reading again, it's all about finding a book that you find interesting. It's so relaxing and can be so enjoyable just as soon as you find the right book. I love the idea of this StoryWalk, and it gives me something fun to check out this weekend.
