By now you've seen posts going around social media encouraging you to make your own homemade weed killer using common household vinegar. People praise the effectiveness of this low cost, environmentally safe remedy. Have you put it to the test?

Most of the formulas circulating the web suggest using a combination of vinegar, salt, and in some cases, blue Dawn dishwashing soap. In almost every case, the formula specifies blue Dawn soap, no other brand or variation.

Does it work? Check out this video where the host uses straight vinegar in a common, everyday sprayer. For the record, he praises vinegar's use as a weed killer, but never actually sprays weeds in his demo. In this example, he uses vinegar to kill an unwanted overgrowth of grass.
