There is an odd rumor floating around that new currency that Canada is printing smells like maple syrup.

The money which is being printed on plastic bills was actually released in 2011, so if this is true I'm not sure why it took so long for us to hear about it!

Apparently the talk of a maple syrup smell began almost immediately after the money was released and the Bank of Canada is getting tons of requests from the public asking just how they got the smell into the new bills, while some people are complaining that their money doesn't have the delicious scent!

The Bank of Canada however, insists it's not true, telling the Canadian Press that no scent has been added to any of the bank notes.

This guy claims it IS true:

Do you have any Canadian money we can sniff for ourselves?
