Do You Shave Your . . .

I know many of you were thinking, "Why yes, yes I do!" Until you saw this picture and then you were thinking, "What the heck is that!". Let me tell you about Alpaca Shearing Day!

If you're like me you've never heard of Shearing Day, but this weekend over 150 alpacas that produce the fiber for Home Grown Rugs will be harvested right here in the Grand Valley!

Breeders band together to help each other out once a year:

The best part is you can actually head out to Horse Mountain Alapacs between Noon & 2 Saturday the 4th of May to watch how it's done!

The fiber produced is used for a wide variety of products from yarn to blankets!

Don't forget Mother's Day is on the way and any of these items would make a great gift! One of my favorite products is the Alpaca Soap . . . just in case my husband is reading this.
