Do You Know How Long to Wash Your Hands?

According to a hand washing survey the average American washes their hands for 5 seconds, and of course that's not long enough.

I had heard that to be germ free you need to sing "Happy Birthday" while you washed. Sounds silly but that's what I heard.

But believe it or not The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends washing hands for at least 20 seconds and suggests singing "Happy Birthday" twice to allow enough time to remove and rinse off germs.

So I was close. . .

The survey also found that 70% of adults say they always wash their hands after using a public restroom, 29% sometimes skip it and 1% never do it!
