With cases of COVID-19 skyrocketing right now, it's not exactly shocking to see District 51 making changes to education plans as students and facility continue to try and navigate the school year as best as possible.

The announcement was made on the District 51 website this afternoon that after a lot of consideration with COVID-19 numbers rising so drastically the best decision for all staff and students is to transition into remote learning beginning immediately. You can see all of the information from the district by clicking here.

All high schools will begin remote learning on Monday, November 16th. CMU classes are also transitioning into remote learning.

Middle schools and Gateways are looking at each individual situation before and is expected to make a final decision tomorrow (Friday, November 13th). Middle school is more unique in high school so it is possible to continue to see some in-person learning next week. A decision is expected at 1 p.m tomorrow.

For now, Elementary schools will remain in person as they are not seeing the same drastic increases that high schools are seeing regarding the virus.

High school students will be able to go to school tomorrow to retrieve items needed to continue their education from the home beginning on Monday. No high school classes will be conducted in person tomorrow (Friday, November 13th).

Students collecting their belongings tomorrow are being asked to wear a mask and practice social distancing guidelines.

This will stay in place until at least after the Thanksgiving break when further plans are expected. A final decision for plans moving forward will be decided by Wednesday, November 25th.
