Woman Hit By Car and Died Sitting on Curb in Grand Junction
If you were anywhere near the Eastgate Shopping Center on Sunday (May 2) you probably saw an abundance of law enforcement vehicles and ambulances. That is because there was a tragic incident that took place which unfortunately cost one woman her life and all she was doing was sitting on a curb in Grand Junction.
The details are still limited at this point but according to KKCO, one pedestrian was killed just after 12:15 p.m. on Sunday, May 2. The incident was just off the heavily-used North Avenue in Grand Junction near 28 1/2 Road, between O'Reilly's Auto Parts and Carl's Jr. restaurant.
What Happened To Cause a Woman to Die After Just Sitting on a Curb in Grand Junction?
A driver was entering the Eastgate Shopping Center and didn't see anyone sitting near the roadway and the pedestrian was run over. The woman received medical treatment immediately after the driver realized the error. The woman passed away while being transported to a local hospital.
The Accident Is Still Under Investigation
This is heartbreaking for everyone involved. The family of the woman who passed away has to be devastated, and I couldn't even imagine what the driver of the vehicle is feeling right now. The Grand Junction Police Department is still investigating the accident and as more information gets released we will be sure to pass that along to you.
