Did You Know Colorado Has An Art Cartopia Museum?
I'll be honest, I had no idea what an Art Cartopia Museum was until I was told that Colorado has one from a coworker. So, I had to dig in and find out what exactly it is.
The Art Cartopia is an art car museum based in Trinidad, Colorado which is in the South-Eastern corner of the state, approximately one hour south of Pueblo. The museum was created after the unexpected success of ArtoCade, which is the annual art car show parade in Trinidad dedicated to building community through the arts.
There are more than 25 art cars on display and serving as a place for creativity and shenanigans, the doors for the museum were opened in the fall of 2018 and it's popularity just seems to keep growing.
So... what exactly is an art car? That is a good question. After visiting the Art Cartopia website I found out that it is. It's whatever you want it to be. You get to use your creativity to put your object together using any wacky idea you can come up with using a car and your imagination.
While visiting the museum you can check out all the art cars on display, browse their gift shop, or possibly participate in an art car build or some other hands-on activity just depending on what is being created that day. You're encouraged to check out their What's Happening page when planning your visit.
The museum is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. but pandemic restrictions are currently in place. So, all customers are being asked to wear a mask and practice social distancing.
