It was the most abrupt ending in awards show history: There was Luke Bryan, collecting his award for "Entertainer of the Year," the most prestigious award of the night, when suddenly the exit music rolls, Blake Shelton and some producer wearing a headset jump on stage, and end credits roll. Why did the show come to a screeching halt?

Viewers had to sit through a bunch of celebrities blabbing forever for winning unremarkable awards, all while Luke Bryan but got gypped when it came to the most significant award of the night. What happened?

It seems as if several segments were cut short.

Did you catch Brooks & Dunn's performance of "My Maria"? It seemed something funky happened in the end?

Kix Brooks and the drummer were ready to stop, but Ronnie Dunn and the bass player had other plans. Were they receiving a signal to cut the song short and drop the final chorus?

Look at all the time we lost when Steven Tyler from Aerosmith tried to read the teleprompter for the final introduction. Fortunately, Luke Bryan did have the chance to get out some "thank yous" before being cut short.

Did the show just run long? If so, couldn't some lesser categories be cut from the broadcast? Or maybe fewer performances were in order.

Why couldn't they just let the show run long? What's the big deal? It was Sunday night for crying out loud. Maybe CBS just had to air a rerun of Murder She Wrote.

Does the Academy owe Luke Bryan air time so he can complete his speech?
