After months of anticipation, the guys finally score the sinister temptation they've been craving. This week, the mighty Desert Flyer Band samples a share of Jim Beam's "Devils Cut."

No doubt by now you've been tempted by the commercials. "Devil's Cut" in name alone seduces one to explore their curiosities and take a walk on the dark side. According to Jim Beam, as bourbon ages, a certain amount of the liquid is lost to evaporation. They refer to this as the "Angel's Share." When the Bourbon is removed from the barrel, an amount is left in the wood, and this is the "Devil's Cut." Jim Beam has developed a process that removes the whiskey from the wood.

Whereas "Devil's Cut" was hard to find not too long ago, it is rapidly materializing on shelves at most stores.

The Desert Flyer Band was unanimous in their satisfaction with the beverage. In some cases, first impressions didn't exactly set the world on fire, but attitudes changed promptly. The bourbon's rich taste took a few moments before finally tempting the guys into some very positive reviews.

Wood it is! The first sip will hit you in the mouth like a hard bodied fender guitar. I didn't like it at first, but the more I consumed the better it got, and I'll admit I diluted it with some water. If you like a burnt/barrel tasting bourbon, then this is your baby. I give it 2 1/2 Dancing Bananas." - Bob Sours   Vocals/Rhythm Guitar

I found Devils Cut to be a pretty bold and even strong on the front end with a somewhat woody flavor that you would expect out of a bourbon made from barrel squeezins'. I wasn't too sure I liked it at first, but after icing it down and letting it mellow a bit.... I found it to be acceptable. I'll give it 3 Dancing Bananas." - Greg Achord   Vocals/Lead Guitar

"This is everything I want from a bourbon. The dark, woody taste is perfect. Well worth the wait. A confident 4 1/2 Dancing Bananas." - Waylon Jordan   Bass
