Crews in Fruita are Working to Lower Wildfire Risk
Soon it will be fire season and Lower Valley Fire District is working with the Bureau of Land Management and the City of Fruita to clear brush and trees that could be a potential fire hazard. Officials are trying to get rid of overgrown trees that could fuel a fire. There are many homes along the Little Salt Wash area that could be in danger in case of a fire. Officials are hoping by taking a preventative measure that if a fire did break out there would be less damage and hopefully save those homes.
The Bureau Of Land Management has given about $15,000 to help with the project and they hope to have the land cleared within the next couple weeks.
