The luxury and lifestyle travel company, Condé Nast, recently published what they consider to be the best state parks throughout the country.

There are more than 10,000 state parks in the U.S., each boasting beautiful sights and unique features of its own. From waterfalls to wildlife, state parks are definitely worth the visit and are oftentimes much less crowded than nearby national parks.

When it comes to the best state park in Colorado, Condé Nast chose a Larimer/Jackson County location that's not too far of a drive from Fort Collins.

Located in Walden, State Forest State Park is the ultimate example of Colorado's rugged wilderness. The 71,000 acres of forest among the Medicine Bow Range of the Rocky Mountains include jagged peaks, gorgeous alpine lakes, tons of wildlife, and epic views. The park is a very popular place to see moose and is actually considered the moose viewing capital of Colorado. Outdoor enthusiasts come from all over to hike, bike, camp and so much more at this scenic spot. Condé Nast calls State Forest State Park a hidden gem, and described it as being a mini Rocky Mountain National Park without the crowds.
