Will Western Colorado See A White Christmas This Year?
Somehow the Grinch must have been hired to write the Grand Junction winter forecast over at the Old Farmer's Almanac this year. The holiday season in the United States is looking very uneventful. It looks like most of the country has a very low chance of seeing a 'White Christmas' this year.

Lucky for us, living in Colorado means a better-than-average chance of seeing a White Christmas, especially if you are up for a little road trip.
A White Christmas in Colorado
According to the 2024-2025 Old Farmer's Almanac, Colorado's winter season will be a cold one with above-average snowfall, especially for the higher elevations. While this is great news for skiers it doesn't necessarily mean the snow will be here in time for Christmas. Some of Colorado's snowiest months arrive after the holiday season has ended.

Winter's Coldest and Snowiest Moments
The Old Farmer's Almanac says the coldest parts of the upcoming winter will arrive in late November and late January. Colorado's snowiest periods this winter will occur around mid-November, early and late January, and mid-March.
Best Odds for a White Christmas
Many of the models are predicting a pretty standard winter for the Rocky Mountains. Towns in the higher elevations have a great chance for snow on Christmas while most locations below 7,000 feet may be waiting until January for the snow to really get going.

- Winter Park: 99.5% chance for snow on Christmas.
- Aspen: Has a 99.3% chance for snow on Christmas.
- Steamboat Springs: 98.9% chance for snow on Christmas.
- Fraser: Has a 98.3% chance for snow on Christmas.
- Grand Lake: 97.9% chance for snow on Christmas.
- Breckenridge: 97.7% chance for snow on Christmas.
