What Grand Junction Might Have Been Called

Before Grand Junction became an official city, it had several proposed names, including Belly-Ache Flats, River City, West Denver, and Ute. Specifically, the area once known as Ute was established from February to May 1882, in what is now the 81501 zip code of Grand Junction.

Notable Colorado Name Changes

Some of Colorado's communities that have renamed themselves over the years include Fountain Colony (Colorado Springs), Camp Collins (Fort Collins), and Avin which became Avon as recently as 1978.
