Colorado Spring Hikes: Rabbit Ears Peak

If you're looking for a moderate hike with plenty of beautiful flowers and scenery, Rabbit Ears Peak Trail may be the one for you.

This is a popular hike in the Steamboat Springs area, with the rock formation at the peak resembling rabbit ears. Unfortunately, a few years ago, the east tower crumbled to the ground, making the peak look much less like rabbit ears.

If you love wildflowers this is a great hike. A large portion of this hike is in the open, so sunscreen is a definite.

The hike is described as moderate with a 5.5-mile round trip. Like any ascending hike, the closer to the top you get the steeper the incline and the tougher the hike will get. The estimated one-way hiking time is 1 hour and 45 minutes. You'll definitely want to bring some water on the hike. Dogs on a leash with good owners are welcome on this trail.

To get to Rabbit Ears Peak Trail, take Interstate 70 to exit 205 Steamboat Springs. From their take Highway 9 to Kremmling and then Highway 40 to Rabbit Ears Pass.
