Longtime Colorado Cheesesteak Favorite Closing Soon
Well, this is a bummer. As with so many things these days, another Colorado favorite is set to close, this time after nearly 30 years in business.
Since 1996, Sally Rock has served up authentic Philly Cheesesteaks out of her cart on the 16th Street Mall in Denver, called "The Philadelphia Filly."

Westword was the first to report that construction along the mall, specifically at the intersection of 16th Street, Broadway, and Cleveland Place, where the cart has been located, is forcing them from their spot. While the Downtown Denver Business Improvement District was willing to work to find them a new home somewhere else along the mall, Rock has decided that the complicated process required to renew their business license — in addition to her age and desire to focus on her budding artwork business — means it will just be easier to move on from the cheesesteak favorite that's called Denver home all these years.
Even if you've never visited the cart on the 16th Street Mall, there's a good chance you've seen them at an event or 10 across Colorado over the years.
One of the best parts of their menu is that sandwiches are still only $10 — with or without onions — and a soda or water only costs $1.50, with a side of chips for just a buck more.
Your last chance to check out The Philadelphia Filly will be Friday, Oct. 20, as they're open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for lunch.
