We already know the dangers of texting while driving. Now, there is a new danger, gaming while driving.

The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) reports as 'Pokemon Go' gains popularity, the number of people playing the game while driving appears to be increasing as well.

In an effort to alert drivers about the danger of driving while gaming, CDOT has started posting signs on Colorado highways with the message "Beware the Pokemon."

Sam Cole, a spokesperson for CDOT says,

It's more or less an obsession with some people. We just hope they have enough common sense to put down the game when they're driving."

According to CDOT, in 2015 distracted drivers in Colorado were involved in 15,574 crashes resulting in 68 traffic related fatalities.

To date, there haven't been any Pokemon related auto accidents in Colorado and the CDOT "Beware the Pokemon" campaign is designed to encourage drivers to put their phones away while behind the wheel.
