The Colorado National  Monument is one of the 12 parks in the state left in desperate need of millions of dollars for repairs and maintenance. Needed upgrades have been delayed for years due to a lack of available funds.

According to KJCT News 8, the Colorado National Monument needs over $13 million in upgrades. Between the 416,862 visitors who use the roads on the Monument in 2014, combined with Western Colorado's harsh weather, roads have seen plenty of wear and tear.

According to the Park Service, the Colorado National Monument is one of many parks across the nation dealing with deferred maintenance. The Park Service estimates the national total for funds needed at $11.5 billion.

One source of revenue for parks is the admission charge visitors pay when driving into the park. Have you visited the Colorado National Monument lately? Have you visited in the last year?
