Colorado National Monument Archaeology Day Highlights Ancient Residents

Colorado National Monument Archaeology Day is a great way to explore more than the geology of the red rocks and the monoliths of the area.

Archeaology Day is Saturday (October 15) from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. at the Visitor Center.

The event gives families a hands-on learning experience about how ancient people in the area lived, hunted and created.

Activities during the event include:

• Creating Pictographs
• Rope and Basket Weaving
• Corn Grinding

Visitors will also be able to talk with archaeologists about the discoveries that have helped them learn more about the ancient residents of the area we call 'The Monument.'

The events and activities at the Visitors Center are free, but normal entrance fees of $10 per car, $5 motorcycle, hiker or bicyclist apply. The fee gives the user 7 consecutive days of visits to the Colorado National Monument.
