Did you that three of the most expensive small towns you can live in are all located in the same Colorado county? Pitkin County is home to Aspen (population 6,612), Snowmass (population 3,096), and Woody Creek (population 123).

According to Forbes.com, these communities represent the top three most expensive zip codes in Colorado. Forbes published the Median Home Values for each location during the fall of last year. Aspen's median home value is about $3,452,698. The median value in Snowmass is $2,300,764, and the tiny community of Woody Creek averages a home value of $4,907,728

According to Axios Denver, the mountaintop town of Breckenridge, Colorado, is one of the most expensive places you can live in the state. LendingTree’s analysis of U.S. Census data shows home prices rival major cities like San Francisco and San Diego with a value of around $760,000.

If you love the history of the American West, and some of the best powder snow to be found each winter, Steamboat Springs, Colorado is the place to be. Steamboat Springs is ranked right behind Breckenridge by Axios Denver, with home values averaging around $691,000.

Forbes.com ranks Steamboat Springs 11th out of the 30th most expensive Colorado ski towns, with the median home value from the fall of 2024 at around $1,290,617.
