Living in Colorado ain't cheap, but it's not the most expensive state either. Most of the time the amazing quality of life in the mountains makes up for the higher cost of everything. That being said, there are some extremely expensive parts of Colorado.

The six cities in Colorado that are part of the top fifty include Breckenridge, Steamboat Springs, Montrose, Fort Morgan, Canon City, and Craig. We'll examine the average median home value and the median income for each one of these communities in the slides below.

The town at the top of the list of the most expensive places to live in America was the town of Vineyard Haven, Massachusetts. Homes in Vineyard Haven cost over $850,000 yet most folks who live there earn about $77,000. Imagine what they could buy in Palisade for $850,000. A lot more wine, that's for sure.
