Grand Junction’s ‘Stuff The Bus’ Results In Record Donations
Western Colorado’s District 51 Schools just got some great news. The community stepped up in a big way by donating a record amount of school supplies and cash. It's a great way to show support to our students and teachers in need in Mesa County.
Why share this good news? The donation is a milestone—doubling what schools expected, boosting resources, and helping students and teachers start the school year ready for success. Let’s break down the highlights.
‘Stuff the Bus’ Sets New Record
July is 'Stuff the Bus' month in Grand Junction, Fruita, and Palisade, and anywhere you can find a District 51 high school. It's a month-long supply drive and fundraiser that benefits students who need assistance getting the school supplies they'll need for the school year. We collect school supplies at the mall and monetary donations online via the D51 Foundation website.
In addition to the school supplies donated for younger students in Mesa County, residents came together to donate $6,800 to our high schools. This means all five high schools will receive $1,360 to put towards school supplies our older students need.

We can't thank our community enough. Townsquare Media has worked alongside Mesa County and the D51 Foundation, and Mesa Mall for more than 20 years of ' Stuff the Bus.' Our hearts are full; even after all these years, record donations still come in.
The additional funds will allow principals to purchase select items not typically donated, such as advanced calculators or lab materials. This year’s success was made possible thanks to contributions from Community Hospital’s Grand Valley Pediatrics, the D51 Foundation, the Credit Union of Colorado, Veritas Law, and generous community members.
How D51 Schools Will Use the Funds
How will each high school use $1,360 in donations? It could be lab goggles, art materials, athletic gear, or anything else our D51 High School principals know students might need. The best part is, there is always room for additional members of our community to come on board as a 'Stuff the Bus' drop-off location next summer. Reach out to the D51 Foundation or see us at Townsquare Media. We would love your help.
