We all know that being in health care and working at a hospital is not an easy job. We have some tremendous hospitals here in the Grand Valley, and extremely hard working health care workers that's why I thought it was so cool to see Colorado make the top 10 list of best hospitals in America done by Psy.D.Programs.

As they mention in the article, measuring the quality of healthcare in America is very difficult. Often times patients have to visit multiple doctors and make numerous trips to hospitals. Also, if a patient dies is that due to bad care or were they just extremely sick? It really is difficult to judge.

So, when doing this study there were 57 different measures in specific categories such as patient experience, mortality, and safety of care. All hospitals in a state are grouped together and then calculated by a 1 through 5-star ranking.

The top 10 states with the best hospitals include:

  1. Wisconsin (The state with the best hospitals)
  2. South Dakota
  3. Utah
  4. Hawaii
  5. Idaho
  6. Alaska
  7. Minnesota
  8. Montana
  9. Indiana
  10. Colorado

The worst 10 states when it comes to hospitals include:

  1. New York (The state with the worst hospitals)
  2. Nevada
  3. Florida
  4. Mississippi
  5. Arkansas
  6. New Jersey
  7. New Mexico
  8. Tennessee
  9. Connecticut
  10. Delaware

Obviously, this is good news for all Colorado citizens to know that we really have some great hospitals in our area. And we want to give a big thank you to all health care workers that do such a great job each day.
