A Popular Pizzeria’s Riverfront Plan Has Grand Junction Talking
Back in December, a conversation on Reddit confirmed changes were coming to Junct’n Square Pizza in downtown Grand Junction. A change in ownership was taking place, and a relocation was in the works.
Now that a couple of months have passed, what else do we know about the future of one of Grand Junction’s favorite pizza places? After almost 50 years at N. 7th Street, are there still plans for a relocation? It certainly looks that way. Here’s what we know.

According to news shared online, the new Junct’n Square owners, Aaron & Mariel Abeyta, still plan to relocate to the riverfront at Las Colonias. According to the Junct’n Square Facebook page, they currently still operate on a limited schedule from their catering location. Back in December, Aaron told WesternSlopenow.com that Junct’n Square pizza would operate from a food truck on Ute Avenue until they could get things ready at the Las Colonias location. A brief closure was reported by News 11 in December, but posts by the business indicated they were open again before the end of the year.
The New Riverfront Location at Las Colonias
The new Junct’n Square will sit facing toward the Butterfly Pond and the Las Colonias Riverfront, situated next to the OakStar Bank building in Grand Junction. This seems to put the restaurant at 1351 Riverfront Drive. Talk on Reddit mentions two-story dining, outdoor dome seating, and a full bar, with a projected opening around mid-2026.
Until construction of the new location is complete, it's difficult to predict when the new Junct’n Square will officially open. When they do, imagine a fun summer afternoon on the river, followed by dinner at Junct’n Square at Las Colonias. I wonder if dining on the patio will mean we can hear the concerts at the Amphitheater? Either way, we can't wait to see what's coming next for this legendary local business.
