Colorado Law is specific about what is and is not allowed when parking. The law explains where we can park, where we can't, how exactly to park, and how close to things you should be. One of the most common mistakes that results in a parking violation is "parking on the curb."

The Right Way & The Wrong Way

Parking up "on the curb" is the same as parking on the sidewalk. This is illegal no matter where you do it in Colorado. According to the Colorado Driver Handbook, parking on the curb means parking within twelve inches of the curb. If you park any further away from the curb than this, you are parking illegally.
