The most common type of parking in Grand Junction are spaces created at a 45-degree angle. However, spaces created at a 90-degree angle are most efficient for a rectangular parking lot, with parking access on both sides of an aisle.
Paying Attention While Parking
While some parking lots are designed to be more convenient than others, it's really up to those parking their cars to pay attention. Many of us have walked past a car and thought, "Nice parking job" when someone is occupying two spaces with one car. Sometimes parking becomes so common, that we don't spend much time thinking about it. Being an absent-minded parker could mean breaking the law without realizing it.
Parking at the Curb in Colorado
Colorado Law is specific about what is and is not allowed when parking. The law explains where we can park, where we can't, how exactly to park, and how close to things you should be. One of the most common mistakes that results in a parking violation is "parking on the curb."
The Right Way & The Wrong Way
Parking up "on the curb" is the same as parking on the sidewalk. This is illegal no matter where you do it in Colorado. According to the Colorado Driver Handbook, parking on the curb means parking within twelve inches of the curb. If you park any further away from the curb than this, you are parking illegally.
