Casinos.com recently determined the most popular pizza toppings in America. Additionally, they further broke down the rankings to reveal what pizza toppers are each state's favorite. To get these answers, researchers gathered the average monthly Google trends data for 15 of the most popular pizza toppings in America on a state-by-state basis.
Favorite Toppings in the U.S.
Based on their results, pepperoni proved to be the most beloved pizza topping throughout the nation, taking the top spot in 29 different states. The salty circles are also the second choice in an additional 17 states.
Bacon and sausage followed as the second and third most popular toppings across the country. The fourth and fifth most-favored items to add to pizzas are peppers and mushrooms.
What Kind of Pizza Do Coloradans Prefer?
Like a majority of the country, Coloradans opt to top their pizzas with pepperoni over all of the other main items. According to the survey, residents in the Centennial State's next favorite choices to add to cheesy slices are sausage, bacon, mushrooms, and chicken.
Least Favorite Toppings
Besides uncovering Americans' most-picked pizza toppings, the data also revealed what ingredient is least-favored. Ranking bottom across all 50 states, anchovies stood out as the most hated accompaniment when it comes to adding items to a pizza. Other toppings that fell low on the list include onions, olives, and jalapenos.
