Colorado's Dark Sky Places

Dark Sky Parks are natural areas that protect true darkness. These parks include the Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve, Garden of the Gods, Red Rocks Park, Dinosaur National Monument, UFO Watchtower, Curecanti National Recreation Area, Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park, Hovenweep National Monument, Mesa Verde National Park, and Jackson Lake State Park.

Dark Sky Communities are places dedicated the the preservation of the night sky. In Colorado, these communities include Silver Cliff, Rocky Mountain National Park, Chimney Rock National Monument, Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument, and Slumgullion Center near Lake City.
