How Western Colorado Voted in the 2024 Fall Election

Coloradans have spent the last 24 hours voting in the 2024 Presidential election. More than 137 million Americans voted for President yesterday, with Donald Trump ahead at the end of the night with 71,417,291 votes (51% of the popular vote) according to CNN.com. Votes are still being counted in several states.

Election Day 2024 featured the presidential race, two Colorado House races, and ballot measures that included two amendments and one proposition. Keep reading to see the results so far.

Colorado Presidential Election Results

In the race for President, Colorado cast 1,374,175 votes for Kamala Harris vs 1,084,812 votes for Trump. Harris won the state with 54% of the vote in Colorado. According to CNN.com, about 76% of the state's votes have been counted as of 5:30 AM on 11/6.

Colorado Congressional District Races

The closely watched Colorado House Congressional District 3 race was between Democrat Adam Frisch and GOP candidate Jeff Hurd. With 84% of the vote counted so far, Hurd is in the lead with 182,589 (50%) votes to 170,924 for Frisch according to NPR.org.

The race for Colorado House Congressional District 8 was between Democrat Yadira Caraveo and GOP candidate Gabe Evans. According to NPR.org, Yadira Caraveo leads Gabe Evans with 49.5% of the vote with 74% of the votes counted.

Colorado Amendments

Colorado Amendment 79 creates a constitutional right to abortion. This amendment passed with 61.5% of the vote (1,511,329 votes).

Colorado Amendment 80 creates a constitutional right to school choice. With 72% of votes counted so far, 52.1% of voters have voted No on this one.

Colorado Proposition 131 requires open primaries and ranked-choice voting in general elections. So far, 55.2% of voters said No (1,313,969 votes).
