"Star Trek Voyager" made its debut 18 years ago today, and nerds everywhere (and I include myself as one of you) have enjoyed 18 years of the hottest women ever to explore space. Enjoy a look back at the series, and vote in our "Hottest Voyager Space-Babe poll."

The Federation starship "Voyager," named in honor of a Chrysler minivan, was helmed by what has been incorrectly reported as the first female captain in Star Trek history, Captain Kathryn Janeway.

According to Star Trek canon,  the starship "Saratoga," seen in "Star Trek IV, The Voyage Home," was captained by a woman, played by actress Madge Sinclair, patrolling space in the year 2286, a full century before Janeway and Voyager.

While Kathryn Janeway, portrayed by Kate Mulgrew, may not have been the first woman in space, she is arguably the hottest.

The starship Voyager also had another hot babe, complete with a "ribbed-for-your-pleasure" forehead, Chief Engineer B'Elanna Torres, played by Roxann Dawson.

After the first few seasons of Voyager, ratings weren't quite what Paramount had hoped for.  So, the execs used a brilliant tactic and added yet another hot babe. Jeri Ryan was cast as Borg-Babe Seven of Nine, and ratings almost doubled immediately. To better understand why ratings doubled, take a look immediately below.

Honorable Mention: While we have no reason to believe the character had any female traits, the reality is we have no way of knowing.  Who in our day has any knowledge of Talaxian anatomy? Just in case we've overlooked anything, our survey includes Neelix in our poll for hottest space babes.
