Scientist with the Center for Disease Control are concerned that this year's flu vaccine will be less effective due to mutating viruses.

Dr. Tom Frieden told CNN that researchers are concerned with a particular strain of virus (H3N2) stating:

"We could have a season that is more severe than most with more hospitalizations and more deaths."

Frieden also told CNN that it's too late to create another version of the vaccine this year since it takes up to three months to produce the vaccine.

The CDC still recommends getting the vaccine to protect you from other circulating strains that have not mutated.

My advice is if you come down with the flu stay home and get some rest. I have never gotten a flu shot and yes from time to time I come down with the flu but I always beat it and within a few days feel right as rain.
