The Mesa County Sheriff's Office has been very busy this week, making several arrests involving Heroin and Meth.

Tuesday alone saw its fair share of busts, with three arrests made on drug related charges and possession of a deadly weapon during an offense/special circumstance.

On Tuesday, October 20, during a routine traffic stop on Westbound I-70 just seven miles from the Utah border, deputies found heroin, marijuana, and cocaine in a car driven by Chicago residents Joseph Cardenas, 27, and passenger Roberto Diaz, 23. A .40 caliber glock was also discovered.

Joseph has been charged with:

  • possession with intent to distribute cocaine
  • distribution of heroin
  • possession of drug paraphernalia
  • possession of a deadly weapon during an offense/special circumstance
  • driving infractions

Roberto was booked on charges related to:

  • possession with the intent to distribute cocaine
  • distribution of heroin
  • possession of drug paraphernalia
  • possessing a deadly weapon during an offense/special circumstances

Joseph and Roberto are both in custody on $50,000 cash only bonds.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch.....

That same day, deputies were dispatched to a Clifton residence to assist the Clifton Fire Department on a possible drug overdose. While at the residence, deputies contacted Billy Sharp, 23.

Sharp has been charged with:

  • suspected methamphetamine
  • possession of drug paraphernalia
  • tampering with evidence

He has since posted bond and has been released from jail pending a court appearance on October 29.
