I am addicted to Bin 707's Mint Iced Tea, but I want it all the time, so I this year I planted some mint of my own and figured out how to make it myself!

I didn't realize until after drinking a few of these that they use normal tea, the secret is actually in the syrup and fresh mint they add to it.

Today's Tip:
My son loves to help in the kitchen but he's only 2, so he's really messy. When having your kids help mix, you can place their bowl on top of a large cookie sheet, the mess they make will be contained to it -- Mostly.

Mint Syrup Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups packed fresh mint leaves
  • 1 Cup Sugar
  • 1 Cup Water

Directions:

1. Harvest mint (obviously you can skip this step if you got it from the store). Here's a great video on "How to Harvest Your Mint to Promote More Growth"

2. Chop or shred mint
3. Use a saucepan to bring the sugar, water and mint to a boil, stirring until the sugar is dissolved
4. Simmer without stirring for 2 minutes
5. Then pour this mixture through a fine sieve, (I used my grease splatter shield,) into a container for storage (old honey bottles work great.)
6. Cover and chill*

All you have to do now is add it to your favorite drink!
